Shakespeare in the Ruff is delighted to announce an exciting new member of our collective leadership: Nathaniel Hanula-James. As Ruff continues to grow and evolve, this new addition marks a significant step towards achieving our vision of a sustainable and dynamic leadership collective.
Our Ruff community will recognize Nathaniel from his work as an actor in “Towards Rebirth” and “Queen Margaret”. Nathaniel has also been heavily involved behind the scenes at Ruff for a number of years as both an administrator and dramaturg. Nathaniel is currently the dramaturg on “The Tempest: A Witch in Algiers”, and earlier this season was dramaturg on “Old Miranda” and facilitated our 2024 Ruff’s Winter Tale presentation.
Our journey as a collective at Shakespeare in the Ruff has always been one of transformation and adaptation. The core of our mission is to be working artists, creating and performing while nurturing a space that allows for individual artistic development and collaborative creativity. We are guided by a shared set of key values and priorities. The more we worked with Nathaniel over the years, the more evident it became that he would be a natural fit to join this team. Nathaniel shares our values, a desire to create work that is exciting and accessible, and a deep love for all that public, outdoor theatre can be.
“I am ecstatic that I get to join this fantastic team of humans, NERD OUT on theatre, and contribute to Ruff’s work reinventing the canon for our current moment. See you in the park!”
Nathaniel Hanula-James
Please join us in wishing Nathaniel a warm welcome to Ruff. Better yet, stop by Withrow Park this summer and say hello! You’ll find Nathaniel and the rest of the Ruff team beneath those big beautiful willows you know and love. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on together.
