One of the defining pillars of Ruff is that we get to call the beautiful Withrow Park home. We are fortunate to have a rich, vibrant and natural stage from which we perform our work and build our community.
For this year’s fundraiser, we invite our friends, family and community to connect with the more-than-human world of Withrow Park by forest bathing in Withrow Park.
Your guide to forest bathing will be Melanie Hazell – an ANFT certified Forest Therapist and long-time friend of Ruff. Melanie’s story can be found here.
More details:
Where? Withrow Park located just south of the Danforth between Logan and Carlaw. We’ll meet at the fire pit in the north end of the park.
When? October 16, 2022 from 2-4pm. The 1-hour forest bathing session starts at 2:30pm. Afterwards, everyone is welcome to gather around the fire for hot drinks and s’mores.
What can I expect? Forest bathing is a gentle, immersive experience where you “bath” in the colours, scents, patterns and wonders of the more-than-human world. The experience will be slow, meditative and sensory. All it requires from you is to be present, free of distractions and open to invitations.
Our numbers should allow those in person to hear Melanie. However, as an option for those that may want to move at their own pace, join remotely, or have a bit less surrounding sound, there is a dial in option which requires a cell phone and headphones. The number will be provided when you register, and available on the day.
Is the event accessible and family friendly? Yes! This event is designed with accessibility in mind and is suitable for all ages and physical abilities. Whether you need a break from your computer screen, want to get the kids out for a fall afternoon, or want to catch up with your friends at Ruff, you’ll be in the right place.
What do I need? Comfortable walking shoes, and a phone and headphones if using the dial-in option.
How much does it cost to participate? See our ticket prices to the left, which include group/family options. All proceeds go directly to Ruff in support of our productions and Young Ruffian Apprenticeship Program.
