Romeo & Juliet (August)

By William Shakespeare

“Romeo & Juliet is a story about two really unlikely young people who aren’t drawn to each other because they should be, but because they can’t help it. There’s an inexplicable force that’s connecting the two of them that doesn’t make sense in their world. I think that that’s truly what love is, the force of love, the power of love, and the power of healing that love can have.” Andrea Donaldson (Director)

◊ DATE: August 16th-September 4th, in Withrow Park (no Monday shows)

◊ LOCATION: This year, you can find us at the south west corner of the park, by the intersection of Logan and Bain.

◊ TIME: 8:00pm, with pre-show entertainment at 7:30pm. Running time is approximately 100 minutes (no intermission).

◊ PRICE: Tickets are PWYC (Pay What You Can) with a recommended donation of $15 – CASH ONLY. You can purchase tickets in advance at Brown Paper Tickets, either with or without a reserved lawn chair included (limited)

◊ ROOM & BOARD: Bring a picnic and something comfortable to sit on, though we have extra blankets and folding chairs to rent if you’re stuck. The Danforth, just north of the park, is lined with delicious restaurants that do park friendly take-out, so not to worry if you can’t pack a picnic in advance.

◊ AGE/SPECIES: Children & puppies are welcome at the show, though it is intended for a mature audience.

◊ RAIN: Please check our Facebook or Twitter for weather updates during times of inclement weather. Cancellations will be announced at 6:00 pm. If at any stage during a performance, the rain becomes heavy, Ruff will pause for up to one half-hour for the weather to clear up. If the weather poses a threat to audiences and actors, we will cancel mid-performance. A complimentary voucher will be provided so you can join us on another date if a performance is cancelled mid-show. In the event of rain during our September 2nd, 3rd and 4th performances we will move the production to an alternate rain location.

◊ ACCESSIBILITY: Our playing space does not have any steps or staircases (when entered from the paved pathway at Bain & Logan) and the audience seating is on the grass. However, the grass is somewhat uneven, so people using mobility devices such as wheelchairs, scooters or walkers will have to go slowly and exercise caution, as they would in any other city park. Our front of house staff will be happy to assist you to safely find a comfortable spot. In addition, we will reserve a small seating area for people with mobility devices, and will hold the space until 7:45 pm each night. The only accessible washroom is located at the opposite end of the park, a distance away, and the show runs approx. 100 minutes.
